Mutya Keisha Siobhan Return With Kendrick Lamar-Sampling “Lay Down In Swimming Pools”: Listen

Last week in London, we heard a few new tracks from Mutya Keisha Siobhan — the recently reformed British girl group who are gearing up for a major comeback — and now, some additional fruits of their labor have been revealed, in the form of an oh-so-casually tossed-up-on-SoundCloud song with producer Dev Hynes of Blood Orange. (He gave us “Losing You” by Solange Knowles and “Everything Is Embarrassing” by Sky Ferreira, if that serves as any indication of his excellence.)

The track, “Lay Down In Swimming Pools,” interpolates Kendrick Lamar‘s “Swimming Pools (Drank)” to haunting effect, with lush chorus harmonies that take us back to their debut.

“Just finished recording new music with Mutya, Keisha and Siobhan,” Dev explained. “And the girls felt like having a bit of fun at the end of the last session – enjoy!!” If this is what “having a bit of fun” sounds like, that sets the bar pretty high for their upcoming releases — since everything about the track is spot-on, from Mutya Buena‘s smoky vocals and the anxious, skittering beat. The best part, though, is surely Siobhan Donaghy‘s anguished vocals on the bridge, as dissonantly gorgeous as they’ve ever been.

As a teaser, it just gets us more excited than ever for the upcoming MKS invasion. More soon, please?

Listen below.
