Beyonce’s “Bow Down” & “I Been On”: Hear The New Songs

Listen: We don’t know what this is. But it’s new Beyonce, and that’s probably just about all you need to know.

The songbird unceremoniously posted a new song (or set of songs) titled “Bow Down/I Been On” on SoundCloud today, and it’s two things: The first, “Bow Down,” is a noisy, sputtering R&B track (it evokes “Diva,” a bit) and sees King Bey loudly proclaiming her supremacy over your favorites. “I took some time to live my life / But don’t think I’m just his little wife,” she announces before launching into the most ingeniously simple hook in a minute — “Bow down, bitches,” repeated ad infinitum. (We’re hearing that it was produced by Hit-Boy, which sounds about right.)

The second thing is a rap track that’s all distorted, chopped ‘n’ screwed vocals; reportedly, it was produced by Timbaland, Polow da Don and Planet IV.

We’re fairly confident that “Bow Down” is more buzz track than official single, given the lack of formal build-up (and the fact that it doesn’t really sound like single, does it?), but one thing is eminently clear: She’s back.

Bow down, bitches.
