Rihanna Poses With Chris Brown On Instagram, Shatters Breakup Rumors

While recent rumors stated that Rihanna broke up with Chris Brown, the Unapologetic star took to Instagram to dispel the hearsay herself. In one photo (above), she rides around Brown in Los Angeles. The caption to another quotes lyrics from Brown’s “Look At Me Now,” as Rihanna flaunts her outfit of the day: “Yellow model chick in my yellow ass dress wit my yellow n—- X.”

Rihanna’s photo only adds to the couple’s confusing and contradictory statements about their relationship to press. Earlier this week, an anonymous source said that Rihanna wanted to focus on her Diamonds tour, future concerts and her next fashion campaign. E!’s report contradicted Rihanna’s statements to Elle UK that she and Brown had a “fresh start” and felt ready to start a family.

Meanwhile, when Power 106 asked whether he was still with Rihanna, Brown said, “Uh, no. That’s the short answer.” The radio station’s since deleted its tweet reporting Brown’s response, as Brown moved on to promote his new album X and emphasize that he’s “eternally grateful” Rihanna forgave him for the 2009 assault.

If anything, the on-again, off-again nature of their relationship may be the reason why the incident still feels relevant. For example, on Wednesday NPR’s “Tell Me More” spoke with writer Leslie Morgan Steiner and her story “How My Abusive Marriage Left Me $100,000 in Debt.” Host Michel Martin cited Rihanna and Brown’s relationship to explain why Steiner’s story seemed timely.
