Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Can’t Hold Us” Video Is A Journey By Camel And Pirate Ship

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis managed to get through their MTV Movie Awards performance of “Can’t Hold Us” last weekend without dropping their pants. And, sadly for those hoping to catch a glimpse of the chart-topping duo au naturale in the song’s official music video, there’s nary a sighting of the pair sans clothing.

What we do get is some next-level shit — at least as far as Mackelmore’s thrift shop leanings are concerned. The vid, co-directed by Lewis, Jason Koenig and Jon Jon Augustavo, follows the satirical rapper, his musical sidekick and guest vocalist Ray Dalton as they travel the world while waving the flag for The Heist (that would be the song’s parent album).

From New Zealand To Los Angeles To Seattle, Macklemore, Ryan and Ray climb a snowy mountain, sail on a party-rockin’ pirate ship and lead a camel down palm-strewn streets of sunny So Cal to get the word out and prove that nobody, but nobody, can hold them down.

Things get downright trashtastically spiritual when Dalton sits in a barber chair on the beach and gets his afro cut, before marching in the sand carrying said Heist flag while decked out in a white suit.

We’re going to need a good half-a-minute to go meditate and contemplate what we just saw here, everyone. Ciao.
