Lana Del Rey’s “Young & Beautiful”: Hear The Lush, Cinematic ‘Great Gatsby’ Single

Oh, that Lana Del Rey — heartbreaking songstress, noir-pop superstar and the musical equivalent of an old-timey cigarette holder. This weekend, the chanteuse released the full version of her Great Gatsby soundtrack cut, “Young & Beautiful” — which was already teased in the film’s trailer and then previewed in snippet form — and the Rick Nowels-produced cut is just as lush and gorgeous as we’d suspected.

“Cinematic” is a word that people throw around a lot when talking about Lana Del Rey’s music, which makes sense, given that her entire artistic identity is a loving pastiche of a lot of movie references — and fittingly, her big soundtrack song for a big Hollywood movie packs all the sweep and grandeur of a classic film, warm and nostalgic and sadly beautiful. Frankly, it makes us feel a lot of things.

“Will you still love me when I’m no longer beautiful?” Del Rey questions over surging drums. The answer, Lana, is yes. Yes, we will.

Listen below.
