Grammy and Emmy winner Cyndi Lauper is getting dangerously close to securing EGOT status. Kinky Boots, the new Broadway hit she penned the music and lyrics for, just landed 13 Tony nominations, including one for Best Original Score. The musical officially kicked off at New York’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre on April 4.

Kinky Boots was also recognized in such categories as Best Musical, Best Book (Harvey Fierstein), Best Actor (both Stark Sands and Billy Porter), Best Direction and Best Choreography (the latter two for Jerry Mitchell). Lauper has been doing the rounds to promote the smash stage hit as well as her upcoming tour in support of the 30th anniversary of debut LP She’s So Unusual.

If there’s any doubt that Cyndi is over the moon about her recognition for her foray into scoring musicals, one need only look to her Twitter account today:

Just behind Kinky Boots with this year’s Tony noms is Matilda The Musical, based on author Roald Dahl‘s beloved children’s book character. The production stands to win in 12 different categories.

The 67th annual Tony Awards will be broadcast live, via CBS, on June 9 from New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
