Diddy’s ‘Downton Abbey’ Guest Spot Turns Out To Be A ‘Funny Or Die’ Sketch: Watch

Ah, well. I got my hopes up so high for Diddy‘s starring role on Downton Abbey and it turned out that the whole thing was just a big dumb publicity stunt for the mogul’s Funny or Die video, which was actually pretty funny, but not as funny as actually having Diddy on Downton Abbey would have been. But still, well played, Diddy. Well played.

The sketch, coming off the heels of the announcement that Downton Abbey would have their first black cast member, sees Diddy joining as Lord Wolcott, the new lord of Downton (he pronounces it “Downtown,” which is not as funny a bit as he thinks it is); probably the best moment is Diddy’s implied gay love affair with footman Thomas Barrow, which gives him the opportunity to announce, “I’m Lord Wolcott, and I love everybody!”

In short: It could have been better, but it certainly could have been worse. Watch up top.
