Megan & Liz’s “Release You”: Watch The Lyric Video For Their Brilliant Summer Smash

Say hello to an early but ferocious contender for song of the summer, courtesy of Megan & LizYouTube cover queens turned amazing pop duo in their own right: The fraternal twins have just released a single called “Release You” that’s an absolute gem. Fizzy and hooky and impeccably produced by Max Martin and Shellback (with a co-write from Savan Kotecha, so that’s pretty much the dream team), it sounds like Icona Pop‘s “I Love It,” Taylor Swift‘s “22” and Pink‘s “Raise Your Glass” got together and had a summer bonfire.

So “Release You” is one of those ingenious pop confections where everything just works, in a “Call Me Maybe” kind of way that feels magical in its simplicity: The shouty cheerleader spunk of the verses; that earworm on the chorus; the howling on the bridge; the sticky video-game instrumentation. Given the right push, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t dominate radio all summer long, and with good reason.

Watch the lyric video up top, and prepare to get obsessed. It’s one of those songs.
