‘The Voice’: Fall Out Boy & Tony Lucca Perform, Adam Levine & Shakira’s Teams Are Out

Time for a public service announcement to the contestants of The Voice: iTunes charts aren’t this secret metric that only Carson Daly can access. Sure, it’s more fun as a viewer to avoid spoiler alerts, but do you actually enjoy standing on the stage while the results are rolled out at an excruciatingly slow place? While it’s not an exact science, if you see three of your competitors ranked way above you on iTunes, you might just want to practice looking happy when the results are called (studying Meryl Streep Oscar gifs will help).

It’s the second-to-last round of eliminations on The Voice, another hour jam-packed with performances with a side of crushed dreams. Gotta love live television. In addition to the ousting of two contestants, the elimination will have at least one coach singing their swan song (or Swon song? wait and see!) before the finals. Who’s staying and who’s going? Let them entertain you first!

Fall Out Boy kick off the night with a performance of their new single “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)” featuring Michelle Chamuel. Michelle is right at home with the rockers, who are fresh off of their three-year hiatus.

Cee-Lo’s Season 3 team member Nicholas David performs his new single, “Say Goodbye,” in all of his bearded glory. The folksy tune is catchy, and despite the fact that Nicholas’s affinity for brown on brown attire is still driving his fashion choices, it’s a delightful performance. There are three more songs where that came from on his EP, who’s release, brilliantly, coincided with the results show.

Continuing the stroll down memory lane, Adam Levine’s Season 2 team member Tony Lucca performs his new single, “Never Gonna Let You Go.” While his EP is not out until mid-July, the single is available now. Giving Lucca-holics another reason to rejoice, Tony will be opening up for Maroon 5 (along with Kelly Clarkson) on their summer tour.

Blake Shelton’s Season 3 finalist, Terry McDermott, performs his new single “Pictures.” Yes, of course the backdrop is a bunch of pictures. Terry still rocks the mullet, still sings flawlessly, and still appeals to dads everywhere. Terry graciously makes the appearance on his way to the airport, as he’s headed to Scotland for the release of his EP. He also has a baby girl on the way next month, and is apparently pimping Kia Sorrentos. A true Voice success story all around!

Oh yeah, the five current semi-finalists are still there! While it’s easy to forget them amongst the myriad performances, Danielle Bradbery, Amber Carrington, The Swon Brothers, Sasha Allen and Michelle Chamuel perform Poison’s “Every Rose Has its Thorn” with a side of enthusiastic audience clapping. Lighters up, people, lighters up!

Speaking of every rose has its thorn, every results show has it’s eliminations!

Going to the Finals are:

Team Usher:  Michelle Chamuel Team Blake: Danielle Bradbery, The Swon Brothers

So close:

Team Shakira: Sasha Allen Team Adam: Amber Carrington

So that’s it for Shakira and Adam Levine, who both hung in there for so long. The two eliminated coaches comfort each other, while their contestants stand awkwardly on stage waiting for the requisite goodbye hug.

Next week will bring the ultimate Usher/Blake showdown, not to mention Cher’s first televised performance in over a decade! Let the countdown begin! So what do you think? Did the right contestants make the finals?
