Lady Gaga’s ‘ARTPOP’: Zedd Says The New Material Is “Pretty F*cking Cool”

Last time we checked in on Lady Gaga and her ARTPOP sessions, we were tempted to make the “hard at work or hardly working?” dad joke. Since releasing a flurry of information and some “Cake” videos late last year about the album/multimedia project, things have been quiet on the Gaga front. Her frequent collaborator Zedd spilled a few details about the album in January, and now he has spoken to Rolling Stone for a more detailed update.

The DJ-producer says the pair have finished “five or six” tracks and that they were completely open to any ideas. “Whatever is dope is dope,” he said, before echoing Justin Timberlake‘s 20/20 Experience thought process by adding, “We do whatever we want, and we don’t have to make a song that’s 3 minutes and 30 seconds just to fit the radio.”

But what will it sound like? Maybe EDM. But maybe not EDM.

“We didn’t try to make an EDM album – but, at the same time, we didn’t try not to make an EDM album,” Zedd told the magazine. Perhaps most importantly, he’s extremely confident about the tracks they’ve put together.  “I just really can’t imagine [fans] would not like it, to just say it straight up. I think the stuff we’ve made is pretty fucking cool.”
