The Wanted Challenged One Direction To A Fight At Madison Square Garden

The Wanted say they challenged One Direction to a fight at Madison Square Garden last December, but One Direction bailed. “The fact is, we asked to meet them at Madison Square Garden and they did a runner,” The Wanted’s Max George said to Fabulous magazine. “That’s the 100 per cent [sic] God’s honest truth. They got the car pulled up to the back of the stage and got straight in it.”

According to George, One Direction’s Zayn Malik was “being a dick.” George messaged Malik on Twitter to meet at Madison Square Garden immediately following Z100’s Jingle Ball, and Malik agreed. (“All right, big man,” he said, according to George.) As seen on Watch What Happens Live, George often acts as the Wanted’s official spokesman on their “feud” with One Direction. When host Andy Cohen asked which member of 1D is most likely to come out of the closet, George answered without missing a beat (“Louis”).

Other Wanted members sounded torn over how to address the rivalry. “I think until we speak to them personally, we won’t really know what the real situation is,” Jay McGuiness said. Nathan called it all “a bit boring.” Meanwhile, Tom argues that no matter what The Wanted do, the beef will never disappear: “*NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys had it, Take That and East 17 had it. That’s what happens.” (To be fair, Backstreet Boys’ Howie D attributed their own “rivalry” to the media.)
