Cady Groves’ “Forget You” Video: Idolator Premiere

There’s a nice bit of synchronicity to the fact that Idolator premiered Cady Groves‘ debut single, “This Little Girl,” nearly two years ago; it was then that the Oklahoma-bred singer-songwriter first popped up on my radar (and subsequently became pretty much my favorite person in the world).

Now, she’s all grown up: After honing her songcraft in studio sessions with her longtime collaborator Kristian Lundin (who helmed more than a few tracks for a little band called One Direction) and developing an ever-ardent following on Twitter (she’s hysterically funny), Cady’s voice as an artist is clearer than ever — and with the release of her impeccably crafted summer single “Forget You,” she’s poised for big things.

“Forget You” is her strongest offering to date — a sparkly, soaring and infectious slice of radio candy — and it’s a special pleasure to have the opportunity to premiere the video, which is as sweet and spunky as the song itself.

Following Cady and her man-friend through a beach day in Los Angeles as the lyrics flash across the screen (so helpfully!), the visual accompaniment only serves to illustrate how bright and lovely the song is. Gone is the vengeance of the video for “This Little Girl” — this song is all winsome pluck, as pristine a pop hit as any you’ll hear this season.

“Forget You” is her next official single, but it’s also taken from the soundtrack for The Smurfs 2 (Music From and Inspired by); she’s in pretty good company on that compilation (Britney Spears and Owl City — no big), which hits retailers July 23.

So don’t hate me for this, but “Forget You” is, well, unforgettable. I’m obsessed with it.

Watch up top and fall in love with Cady all over again, then buy the song on iTunes.
