The good news for Kanye West: Yeezus is a hit in the eyes of the general public. The rapper’s seventh LP (we’re including Jay-Z collab Watch The Throne) bested competition from J. Cole (#2), Mac Miller (#3) and Kelly Rowland (#4) to land atop the Billboard 200 chart this week, after moving 327,000 copies. The so-so news: Yeezus is West’s first album to debut with less than 400,000 sold. According to Billboard, ‘Ye’s 2004 debut The College Dropout was his previous smallest (solo) opener, with 441,000.

All this said, Yeezus still managed to rack up 2013’s third biggest debut, behind Justin Timberlake‘s The 20/20 Experience (968,000) and Daft Punk‘s Random Access Memories (339,000). Between that and and the birth of baby girl North West, not a bad month to raise a glass, Kanye.

As for how the chips fell with the Top 10’s other big debuts, J. Cole’s sophomore effort Born Sinner sold 297,000, Mac Miller’s sophomore album Watching Movies With The Sound Off moved 102,000 and Kelly Rowland’s Talk A Good Game, her fourth solo LP, tallied up 68,000.
