Robyn Says There Will Be No New Music For Awhile, Everything Is Awful

Robyn has done a little interview to justify the charming inexplicability of her “U Should Know Better” video, which dropped last week despite being, y’know, a really old song: As she explains it: “I just thought it was a shame that I wasn’t able to release the song as a single,” she said. “There’s no album campaign to stay up to speed with so it was just a fun project for ourselves.”

But really, I’m burying the lede here: She said there’s no new music coming. She said there’s no new music coming. When asked whether the video was a “sort of prelude to [her] releasing new songs,” she “laugh[ed] heartily,” and then explained this: “I’ve started working again. I don’t know what it will be — it’s too early to say if it’s going to be an album, or an EP. I don’t even know if it’s going to be my own music. We shall see. I see people messaging me on my Twitter and sometimes I feel bad because I’m nowhere near finished with the album — it’s probably going to be a while before you hear anything new from me.”

“It’s probably going to be a while before you hear anything new from me.” That sound you just heard was my heart sinking in my chest and hope slipping out of my grasp like sand through an hourglass. Bye forever.
