Oh dear. Leona Lewis‘ underappreciated third studio album Glassheart may have underperformed on the charts, but this seems like a particularly dreary fate to befall the X Factor songbird and celebrated equine enthusiast: Per Simon Cowell‘s direction, Lewis says that she’s currently in the studio working on a Christmas album with a Motown feel. Blergh.

As she told the London Evening Standard: “Simon is still very much involved in my career and helps me out. He came up with the Christmas album idea, and we both kind of felt it was the right time to go ahead with it. I’m doing some classics with quite a Motown feel. There’s also going to be a bit of original material in there.”

She continued: “I’m pretty excited about it as I’ve never done anything like this before. There are proper Motown, soulful songs that I can really just enjoy. It’s so musical and I’m getting back to what I love doing… This time, I’m going into the studio and doing a Christmas album, but I’m also feeling my way around and seeing what I want to do for my next studio album. It’s quite nice, free and organic.”

In related news, “Glassheart” is still one of the best songs of her career, even though it never got a single release. Get it together, Syco.
