Watch the throne, because it’s never been busier: Both Jay-Z and Kanye West are currently going full force with respective solo albums, ditching the traditional route and opting for some of the most unconventional promotional strategies the industry’s ever seen.

Kanye, of course, has been making headlines for weeks with his controversy-riddled, jagged new record Yeezus: From his appearance on Saturday Night Live, to projections on buildings across the country, to the strange new video for “Black Skinhead.” Jay-Z, too, has been making waves daily ever since he surprised fans by announcing his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail out of the blue (Ivy Carter) during an extended commercial during the NBA Finals. (Oh, and then there was that whole massively lucrative deal with Samsung).

Despite the lack of lead singles (or lead time), both artists are winning: Kanye’s Yeezus debuted at #1, resulting in the third biggest open in 2013. And while the numbers aren’t in just yet for Jay-Z’s record, it’s looking like Magna‘s going to be big too — if not bigger. But between the sales and the sharp critical divide with both Yeezus and Magna Carta Holy Grail, the question remains: Which album is better?

Place your vote in the poll below. A winner will be announced at 5 PM EST on Friday, July 12!

And the winner is…Kanye West’s Yeezus!
