Justin Timberlake’s “Take Back The Night”: Hear JT Channel ‘Off The Wall’

Justin Timberlake‘s new single “Take Back The Night” premiered as scheduled at 12:00 p.m. ET today (July 12). The lead single from The 20/20 Experience sequel is a suave bit of disco-lite fare, bringing to mind Off The Wall-era Michael Jackson. As with part one of 20/20, the production is immaculate, with orchestral disco strings, staccato guitar lines and of course some brass and handclaps.

20/20 was a lot of things, but more than anything it was effortlessly smooth. This new cut exhibits that same quality, but with a slight return of his Futuresex/Lovesounds dancefloor swagger, in spirit if not sonics. The track was written by Timberlake, Timbaland, Jerome “J-Roc” Harmon and James Fauntleroy, and produced by Timbaland, JT and J-Roc, the same trio responsible for all of 20/20‘s material.
