Annie’s “Invisible”: Hear The Deep Rave-Inspired New Track

Norwegian electropop sylph Annie has unveiled yet another new song from her The A&R EP collaboration with Richard X, and this one marks her deepest, darkest and danciest track yet: “Invisible” features some deep ’90s rave instrumentation (the closest modern equivalent, to me, is Azealia Banks“Liquorice,” but this is much better). It’s as ’90s as everyone else who’s doing ’90s wants to be but never quite is, and strikingly atmospheric in the rave vibe it evokes; at one point, her vocals even get pitched deep enough that she’s rapping in a man’s voice.

That contrast of high and low has always elevated Annie’s work beyond her contemporaries, and it continues to do so here.

Listen below.
