Birdy Teases A Pic From Her “Wings” Video, Debuts The Brilliant Single In Full: Listen
Birdy is ready to make the leap from acclaimed covers artist to original hitmaker with gorgeous new single “Wings”. The soaring mid-tempo ballad hit iTunes (in select markets) a couple of days ago and it’s quite the calling card for sophomore album Fires Within. While the very, very good track owes a large debt to Coldplay‘s “Yellow”, it’s good enough to transcend the comparisons and stand on its own merits. Like the 17-year-old’s haunting vocal and the unexpectedly punchy, radio-friendly chorus.
The Brit is in full promo mode this week. She jumped on Facebook to let fans know that the video is expected to drop any day now and also teased a pic from the set, which finds her sitting on a stoop — looking a little glum (above). “What an amazing week it has been!” Birdy wrote. “To all of you that have listened to ‘Wings’ so excited the official video is coming this week!!” We’re pumped too!
