Usher‘s five-year-old son was rushed to hospital yesterday (August 5) after nearly drowning in the R&B icon’s swimming pool. According to TMZ, Usher Raymond V got his arm stuck in a drain while trying to retrieve a toy. His aunt and a staff member attempted to rescue the boy but couldn’t free him. Tragedy was averted when a pair of on-site contractors responded to screams and saved the day.

The toddler was said to be “conscious, alert and breathing” before being taken to a hospital in Atlanta. Usher and ex-wife Tameka Foster are reportedly by his side. Happily, their oldest son is expected to make a full recovery. The incident comes a year after Usher’s 11-year-old stepson Kile Glover died from injuries sustained in a jetskiing accident.
