Watch J. Cole Perform “Crooked Smile” On ‘Conan’
Remember when Kanye West slagged Justin Timberlake‘s “Suit & Tie,” and after that Timberlake slyly changed one line in the song when he performed it on SNL? We were hoping J. Cole would do something like that during his Conan performance in the wake of Kendrick Lamar‘s complete calling-out of Cole and their peers on the name-naming “Control.” The always-cool Cole instead decided to just turn out a breezy rendition of “Crooked Smile” (without TLC). (Maybe he’s saving the firepower for that rumored collaborative LP with K-Dot?)
Anyway, it was a solid performance, charismatic if not totally captivating, the way most J. Cole television appearances are. Check it out up top.
