Kelly Clarkson Announces Christmas Album, ‘Wrapped In Red,’ So Christmas Is Saved

String up the mistletoe and run some tinsel through your hair like you’re Adrienne Maloof and you know who you are in this world: The great Kelly Clarkson has announced the release of her first Christmas album, Wrapped In Red (great title), due October 29.

A press release notes that the record will include “brand new instant classics” (the sort of PR garblespeak with which I would take umbrage if this were anyone other than Kelly Clarkson) including the first single, “Underneath the Tree,” as well as the title track; besides the original songs, expect standards like “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “Blue Christmas,” and “Please Come Home For Christmas.”

The best part? “Underneath the Tree” was produced by Greg Kurstin, who was a large part of why Clarkson’s Stronger was so extraordinary. The press release promises “to bring a fresh, contemporary sound to this new holiday music,” which again is totally permissible because, well, it’s Kelly Clarkson, so it’s actually probably true.

In Kelly’s own words: “I’m super excited to put out my first Christmas record. I absolutely love Christmas music and have had a total blast recording and writing for it.  I can’t wait for y’all to hear it.” Flawless statement.

As for the competition? Nothing under the tree for them this year.
