Justin Timberlake on Wednesday afternoon (August 28) teased a NY/NJ appearance involving Target, and eventually revealed he’d be doing some sort of “Take Back The Night” performance at legendary Hoboken music venue Maxwell’s. “Come join me and Target tonight for just one song. Let’s ‘Take Back The Night’…First 150 get in,” JT posted on Instagram.

As expected, thousands of fans immediately flocked to the tiny corner club, and it was all part of a shoot for a Target commercial (the retailer released The 20/20 Experience with two exclusive bonus tracks, and is doing the same for Part 2). The whole thing wrapped up in about 90 minutes.

The famed rock venue, which was one of the sites of Bruce Springsteen‘s “Glory Days” video and saw bands like Nirvana and R.E.M. pass through, has actually been closed since July 31 after operating for 35 years.
