Big Sean roams around an island alone in his new “10 2 10” video, directed by Carson & Waxx. His view — the waves, cliffs and forested pathways — is stunning, but it also seems to close around him as the Detroit native spins rhymes about his long hours and increasingly desolate hometown, into a megaphone and to no one in particular.
“10 2 10” is off Big Sean’s new album Hall of Fame (out now) and shows how the diverse G.O.O.D. Music signee matched his usual party anthems with headline-length verses about his hometown, as the city’s bankruptcy case garners mention from even Beyonce. “Coming from Detroit, the city, I feel like there’s nobody, especially a young black man, on a level to be heard that can represent the city,” he said in our interview.
