St. Lucia Drops Shimmery Synth-Pop Gem “Too Close”: Listen

St. Lucia‘s current single “Elevate” perfectly captures the serenity of a lazy afternoon on a tropical island. You can almost feel the sand under your feet and the soft rays of sunlight on your skin. It’s only fitting then that new buzz track “Too Close” soundtrack the mild night that follows.

The sound palette is darker and deeper this time around. Jean-Philip Grobler intricately layers synths and samples to dazzling effect, while the slightly mournful chorus (“I will hold you too close”) appears to be a nod to the British electro-pioneers of the ’80s. It’s an intoxicating mix that promises great things for debut LP When The Night, which drops October 8. Listen to St. Lucia’s latest after the jump.
