When Miley Cyrus talks of Britney Spears, pop star of the TRL era, she says that Spears totally “gets” her. “Sometimes life just steps in the middle of your career the way life always does for anyone — it’s just ours is a little more 24/7,” Cyrus has said.
When Britney Spears talks of Miley Cyrus, pop star of the VEVO era, she lists highlights as if reading from a script. At least, that’s how Spears initially sounded when she introduced Cyrus and her latest, props-filled (by now, as usual) live rendition of “We Can’t Stop.”
“This next performer is everywhere,” Spears says. “I enjoyed collaborating with her on Bangerz. She is so cool, and she’s about to perform her No. 1 hit ‘Wrecking Ball’ for the first time ever.” But then she flashes a grin, as if excited for “Wrecking Ball” but also about to break from script.
“My girl’s about to get to work, bitch.” Of course she’d say that. Ah well. At least she’s still kind of a goof.
