Demi Lovato is prepping her third single from Demi, the dance banger “Neon Lights” (not to be confused with the seminal Dannii Minogue album Neon Nights), and she turned out a performance of the song at Toronto’s We Day. As for her backup? None other than Darren Criss of Glee, lending a helping hand to his upcoming co-star.

Criss was on piano and also provided vocals, although his mic was turned off for part of the set (Ryan Murphy would never let that happen), and Lovato’s vocals were typically chill-inducing, both on “Lights” as well as on her hit “Skyscraper,” which was all the more gut-wrenching with Criss’ elegant piano. They were backed by the Kenyan Boys’ Choir, lending even more potency to the already-powerful song.

Watch “Skyscraper” up top, then see “Neon Lights” below.
