Justin Timberlake’s ‘The 20/20 Experience — 2/2’: Stream The Slinky R&B Album

Justin Timberlake conquered the charts and ushered in a new era of R&B with The 20/20 Experience, so expectations are understandably high for the blockbuster’s speedy sequel. The good news is that the second installment maintains the quality of the first. Timbaland takes over production duties again but he’s in a more experimental mood this time around. The super-producer has already proved that the world was crying out for classy, old school R&B, so he lets go of the reigns and mixes things up.

There’s lavish splashes of disco, meandering breakdowns and voiceovers that wouldn’t sound out of place on Michael Jackson‘s Thriller. Highlights include the Soul II Soul-inspired opener “Gimme What I Don’t Know (I Want)”, slick club-banger “You Got It On” and sexy Drake collaboration “Cabaret”.

The album occasionally gives into excess (“True Blood” needs to be cut in half) but it’s easy to forgive when there are so many other gems to choose from.

The 20/20 Experience — 2/2 drops September 30 and promises to be another mega-seller. Stream the LP in full over at iTunes and let us know what you think in the comments below.
