Justin Bieber is changing himself for the better — well, that’s what he wants you to believe anyway. Straight after his surprise appearance on Ellen Degeneres yesterday (January 28), the singer posted a video to his Fahlo account that found him more vulnerable than we’ve seen him in recent times.

In the short, dimly-lit clip, Bieber apologizes to his fans for his wannabe bad boy behavior over the past year — alleged robbery, egging houses, racist jokes, fighting with other actors…the list goes on.

“I was afraid of what people are thinking about me right now. It’s been a minute since I’ve been in a public appearance and I didn’t want to come off arrogant or conceited, or basically how I’ve been acting in the past year, year-and-a-half,” Bieber states in the video. “I’m not who I was pretending to be. Often we pretend to be something we’re not as a cover up of what we’re truly feeling inside, and there was a lot of feelings going on in there.”

Along with an upcoming Comedy Central roast in March, the singer is planning to release an album this year. Judging from these Instagram snippets, his sound will reflect his new mindset. Head on below to watch Bieber’s apology video.
