Marshmello has the Midas Touch when it comes to dance-pop crossovers. After striking gold with “Silence,” “Wolves” and “Friends,” the bucket-headed DJ’s hot streak continues with “Happier.” The Bastille-assisted banger has racked up 100 million streams in less than a month and is sitting pretty in the iTunes top 10. With surging radio airplay and the arrival of an emotional video, it’s destined to become the 26-year-old’s biggest hit to date. Oh, and did I mention that the visual stars the much-missed Queen of Pop Miranda Cosgrove?

The flawless diva behind “Kissin U” and “Dancing Crazy” (AKA Max Martin’s most underrated single) plays a bullied teenager in the ’80s. Like many a braces-wearing bookworm before her, our heroine finds comfort and companionship in her beloved dog — a faithful companion since childhood. There’s a sad twist towards the end followed by a happier one. “Recently I lost my dog which was really hard for me,” Marshmello reveals. “I wanted the video to embrace the pain that we feel losing someone close to us and the cycle of life. This is what made me happier.”

In conjunction with the “Happier” video, the hitmaker is proudly supporting the ASPCA’s #FindYourFido Campaign during Adopt a Shelter Dog Month. Find out more about the worthy cause here and watch the video up top.
