Christina Aguilera teams up with A Great Big World (again) for “Fall On Me.” A cover of Andrea Bocelli and Matteo Bocelli’s 2018 duet, the stirring ballad is about love in all its forms — be it parental, romantic or spiritual. “Fly like a cannonball straight to my soul, tear me to pieces and make me feel whole,” AGBW introduces the song. “I’m willing to fight for it to feel something new, to know what it’s like to be sharing a space with you.” They then turn over the mic to Ms. Aguilera.

“I wanna believe in a world we can’t see, millions of particles passing through me,” Xtina sings over a delicate piano arrangement. “And I know there’s a meaning, I feel it, I swear — I can’t see the future, but I know that it’s there.” The collaborators come together on the soaring chorus: “Fall on me, with open arms.” Their version is very faithful to the original, which Ian and Chad of AGBW co-wrote — with one exception. Andrea’s Italian verses have been translated into English for the Liberation icon.

It will be interesting to see if lightning can strike twice for Christina and A Great Big World. Of course, “Say Something” was a monster hit in 2013. The stripped-back ballad climbed all the way to number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and went six-times platinum. (It also won them a Grammy). “Fall On Me” is every bit as touching and restrained, which suggests that it could well return them to the top of the charts.
