PHOTOS: Lil Wayne And “A Milli” Other Stars Arrested On Gun Charges

11:29 AM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Erika Brooks Adickman

Lil’ Wayne is about to do a lil’ time in the slammer. The self-anointed “best rapper alive” pleaded guilty last October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon and ultimately received a one-year prison sentence. While some might view a stint in prison as a dark chapter in their lives, Lil’ Wayne is Mr. Optimistic. He plans on spending his time listening to his iPod (here’s hoping his prison cell has an outlet to charge it) and writing more music. “I just say I’m looking forward to it.” Wayne is not the first musician to be arrested on gun charges. In fact, Weezy is in pretty good company, considering that some of the most iconic artists in pop, rap and rock history have at one time or another been considered armed and dangerous. Flip through our mug shot gallery and you may be surprised at who else can be fairly classified as a shooting star. More »

"I've just been staying ahead of the law, really," the band's frontwoman Sade Adu joked, when asked what she's been doing for the past decade. "I've just been living my life, really, doing what you do and trying to just be part of the world."

Wale Has One Thing On His Mind With Two New Music Videos

9:45 AM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Robbie Daw
D.C. rapper Wale serves up two new music videos this week, for "Pretty Girls" and "My Sweetie." Chris Robinson—who, amongst other things, shot the clip for Jordin Sparks' "No Air"—directed "Pretty Girls." Incarcerated MC Gucci Mane also features on the song (though, obviously, not in the video). The second clip, "My Sweetie," was directed by tabi Bonney.

Both look like they were shot on a shoestring budget—but, as the one tune's title suggests, contain no shortage of young, pretty girls. Head below the jump to catch Wale's double feature! More »

MGMT Inspired By Lady Gaga On Nine-Song Sophomore Album ‘Congratulations’

9:02 AM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Robbie Daw
They didn't nab either of the two Grammys they were up for last week, but no matter—synthy hipsters MGMT are moving on to brighter things, like their sophomore album Congratulations.

"It's definitely going to shock people," Andrew Vanwyngarden, one half of the duo, told Spin of the new album (due out April 13). "We dropped any sort of irony that was on the first record, and Congratulations feels true to who we really are."

And who are they really? Apparently a band whose influences this time around ranged from surfing to Lady Gaga. More »

Lil Wayne Documents His Last Night Of Freedom On Video

8:27 AM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Robbie Daw
On the eve before his sentencing in a Manhattan court today—where he's expected to be carted off to prison to serve a one-year term—Lil Wayne shot an hour-long video with Young Money member Lil Twist.

The UStream clip, posted at Rap-Up, meanders through bouts of honest moments, in-jokes, rambling and some definite NSFW moments. But all the while Weezy remains upbeat. "So tonight's my last night, I ain't got no p****," he says. "I came to the studio to get some work done... So to all you artists out there, that should be some kind of message or example."

Such dedication! Such sacrifice! Watch the rest of the hardest-working MC's final night of freedom below the jump. More »

PHOTOS: Justin Bieber, One Less Lonely Ferrari

6:30 AM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Erika Brooks Adickman

Our “Baby” Justin Bieber is growing up. Just weeks before his 16th birthday, Biebes was spotted driving out of a South Miami hotel behind the wheel of a Ferrari F430. Just like any other 15-year-old, we’re sure Justin was trying to clock in a few more driving hours before his driver’s test. However, unlike most 15-year-olds Justin’s first set of wheels falls in the $200,000 range. We’re hoping that he was driving off in the direction of a barbershop. If he can afford a Ferrari, he can definitely afford a haircut. More »
