It is indeed a “Woman’s World” (see what I did there?), and it will be even more so when Cher drops her as-yet-untitled ninety-fifth studio album, now due for a September release, with a first single in June. Details have been leaking out about the LP, which is slated to feature a collaboration with Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears (amazing), and at one point was rumored to include a collab with Timbaland (eh), a duet with Lady Gaga (okay, sure, cool) and two songs written by Pink (awesome).
As is par for the course for the iconic superstar and social media ninja, Cher announced the news via Twitter. More »
For American Idol season 12 winner Candice Glover, the fame has begun. The latest in her flurry of post-finale appearances was a performance on Live with Kelly & Michael this morning (May 20). Accompanied only by a piano, Glover sang her Idol coronation single, “I Am Beautiful,” this time sans tears. Watch her belt out the ballad up top, and stick around for a quick interview in which she explains how she made the transformation from being a singer on her first Idol attempt to being an artist by the time this third try rolled around. In July, T.I. is hitting the road with Lil Wayne and Future for their America’s Most Wanted Festival, and the tour’s two alpha dogs teamed up for “Wit Me” to give fans a taste of what they can expect this summer. Over a spacey, syrupy beat, Weezy starts things off with a chain of clever couplets (“If niggas thinkin’ I’m soft / I’ll knock your thinking cap off”), then Tip turns in a typically propulsive verse. And then they both re-up for round two.

One Direction have been performing some live cover requests during their tour, recently doing Celine Dion‘s iconic “My Heart Will Go On,” and a few days prior taking on Backstreet Boys‘ classic “I Want It That Way.” BSB member Howie Dorough initially tweeted out his thanks to 1D f0r the tribute, before actually having heard their take on his group’s song. But now the Boys have heard it, and Howie told MTV News “they did a good job on it.”
“It’s nice to see groups like that pay homage to us. We definitely paid homage to groups in the earlier days that we admired like Boyz II Men, Color Me Badd, Shai, New Edition,” Howie said. “So it’s cool. I think they did a great job. It seemed like it went over really well.”

Ah, the 2013 Billboard Music Awards! Last night’s show — as with every award show — was a mixed bag, chock full of amazing highs and some real lows, including some seriously awkward Bieber booing, and a nearly fatal crotch-to-head adorning courtesy of Miguel.
Three of the night’s performances got our readers buzzing the most: Bruno Mars‘ disco ball-laden show opener “Treasure,” Taylor Swift‘s rambunctious live television debut of “22″ and Jennifer Lopez‘s scorching performance of her latest Pitbull-assisted YOLO anthem, “Live It Up.”
Now, we want you to decide: Between the 3, who had the best performance of the night? More »
Last week, multiple “sources” told multiple news outlets that Beyonce was pregnant with her and Jay-Z‘s second child. Then Beyonce took to Instagram with an implicit denial of the reports, calling out the “low life people” peddling rumors. Now Jay-Z himself has directly shot down the pregnancy claims.
Hot 97 morning show co-host Ebro says he emailed Hov Saturday (May 18) to congratulate him on the baby news, and told his Hot 97 colleagues the rapper responded by saying the rumors weren’t true. Jay apparently wrote him, “It’s not true. The news is worse than blogs.” So there you have it. Blue Ivy can bask in her status as the spoiled only child for a bit longer. More »
