2:34 PM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Erika Brooks Adickman

Our friends at Celebuzz just posted an exclusive clip of Rihanna riding a mechanical bull in a New York nightclub while Kings of Leon's "Sex On Fire" blares from the speakers. Perhaps Rihanna figured that the time she spent riding a fake Zebra in her "Rude Boy" video (preview below) qualified her to ride a fake bull. More »

Today In ‘Idol’: Ellen DeGeneres Joins The Judges Table—Is Howard Stern Next?

1:58 PM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Becky Bain
:: Hollywood Week begins tonight, as does Ellen DeGeneres' stint as an Idol judge! While Simon inevitably will make all the contestants cry with his critiques, we're counting on Ellen to make 'em laugh. [People]

:: While Howard Stern himself clearly enjoys fueling the rumors that he may replace Simon Cowell, Richard Rushfield at The Daily Beast reports that it’s all just the shock jock playing games in the ongoing talks over renewing his contract at Sirius XM radio. Clever job, Stern. [The Daily Beast]

:: We're seriously bummed one of our favorite Idol hopefuls, Danelle Hayes (the down-to-earth momma who plays in a cover band and who cried in front of the judges) scored a golden ticket, but never competed in Hollywood for unspecified reasons. [Seattle Times]

:: USA Today's Brian Mansfield argues that this year's audition rounds reveal even less about the show's real competitors than usual. [USA Today]

After the jump, see Carrie Underwood—er, we mean Carrie Underworm—sing about the benefits of being an invertebrate on Sesame Street. More »

1:36 PM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Robbie Daw
A duet between Sean Kingston and Sugababes—well, that sounds good on paper, right? Er, not really. Alas, such a recording was made for the British trio's delayed album Sweet 7. You can check out the original version of the 'babes/Kingston collabo "Miss Everything," featuring since-ousted member Keisha Buchanan, here.

So now that latest Sugababe Jade Ewen has successfully re-recorded all of Buchanan's vocals for the LP's March release (in Europe), perhaps there's a chance "Miss Everything" has a bit more vim and a bit less Sean Kingston? Well, dare to dream—and check out the updated version below. More »

Joe Jackson Turns Michael Jackson’s Death Into A Conspiracy Theory

12:11 PM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Becky Bain
Joe Jackson went on Larry King Live last night to discuss the charges against Dr. Conrad Murray, now released on $75,000 bail. "I didn't like those charges. He got off too easy," the Jackson patriarch told King, adding that he believes his son's death involved "other people" besides Murray, who he says is simply "the fall guy." PHOTOS: Lil Wayne And “A Milli” Other Stars Arrested On Gun Charges

11:29 AM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Erika Brooks Adickman

Lil’ Wayne is about to do a lil’ time in the slammer. The self-anointed “best rapper alive” pleaded guilty last October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon and ultimately received a one-year prison sentence. While some might view a stint in prison as a dark chapter in their lives, Lil’ Wayne is Mr. Optimistic. He plans on spending his time listening to his iPod (here’s hoping his prison cell has an outlet to charge it) and writing more music. “I just say I’m looking forward to it.” Wayne is not the first musician to be arrested on gun charges. In fact, Weezy is in pretty good company, considering that some of the most iconic artists in pop, rap and rock history have at one time or another been considered armed and dangerous. Flip through our mug shot gallery and you may be surprised at who else can be fairly classified as a shooting star. More »

Wale Has One Thing On His Mind With Two New Music Videos

9:45 AM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Robbie Daw
D.C. rapper Wale serves up two new music videos this week, for "Pretty Girls" and "My Sweetie." Chris Robinson—who, amongst other things, shot the clip for Jordin Sparks' "No Air"—directed "Pretty Girls." Incarcerated MC Gucci Mane also features on the song (though, obviously, not in the video). The second clip, "My Sweetie," was directed by tabi Bonney.

Both look like they were shot on a shoestring budget—but, as the one tune's title suggests, contain no shortage of young, pretty girls. Head below the jump to catch Wale's double feature! More »

MGMT Inspired By Lady Gaga On Nine-Song Sophomore Album ‘Congratulations’

9:02 AM on Tue Feb 9 2010 by Robbie Daw
They didn't nab either of the two Grammys they were up for last week, but no matter—synthy hipsters MGMT are moving on to brighter things, like their sophomore album Congratulations.

"It's definitely going to shock people," Andrew Vanwyngarden, one half of the duo, told Spin of the new album (due out April 13). "We dropped any sort of irony that was on the first record, and Congratulations feels true to who we really are."

And who are they really? Apparently a band whose influences this time around ranged from surfing to Lady Gaga. More »
