Yes, apparently Usher has not put his John Hancock on the papers that would sever his mama-relationship-ruining marriage to Tameka Raymond, despite his comeback single “Papers” asserting that he’s more than ready to do so. One wonders if the holdup is due in large part to his forthcoming album being all about his marital woes—I mean, it’s called Raymond vs. Raymond, for crying out loud—and so he’s trying to avoid one of those weird delays between the tabloid news cycle and the story told by his art? (P.S. This song is still very hot.) [New York Daily News / YouTube] MORE »

Mutya Buena Adds To The Post-Sugababes Shakeup Press Overload
The news of founding member Keisha Buchanan leaving the UK pop trio the Sugababes, and being replaced by Eurovision contender Jade Ewen, continued today as the BBC tracked down former member (and Big Brother alum Mutya Buena for her thoughts on the shakeup. Perhaps unsurprisingly, she is calling shenanigans! “Obviously, Keisha being the original that was left out of the band, her leaving doesn’t make it Sugababes. I’m not trying to put my foot into it, but I wouldn’t be surprised [if she had been forced out] in any way just because people were trying to say she was the bully [before the news of Buchanan's leaving broke].” And she even went the “dis the new iteration of the group by complimenting the replacement” route, saying: “She would be a lot better as a soloist, because she’s got an amazing voice. It would kind of seem like she’d be the frontline, and there’d be two backing singers.” Oh, Heidi Range. Are you gonna take that??? The full interview after the jump. MORE »

Oasis Save Their Bad News For Late On Friday
Tonight’s set by the pugilistic Britpop titans Oasis at the Rock En Seine Festival, which was supposed to commence about an hour ago, was canceled at the last minute due to an “altercation,” the crowd was told. Well, that “altercation” was actually Noel Gallagher up and quitting the band because of his brotherly love pretty much going pffft! Good thing he had enough sense to blog about it immediately afterward: MORE »

A New Reason To Pray For Omarion: He’s Been Dropped From His Label
R & B singer Omarion has been dropped from the roster of Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment, which is currently the home to Drake and Bow Wow, according to SOHH. “May God be with him and his future endeavors,” read Young Money president Mack Maine’s official statement, which oddly echoed the “pray for Omarion” press release that somebody released when the singer happened to be in London at the same time as some terrorist attacks in 2005. (Coincidence? Hmm.) The rumor is that the former B2K member got the boot for leaking a collaboration between him and Lil Wayne. Could the song in question be “I Get It In,” which mysteriously surfaced online earlier this week? Clip after the jump. MORE »

Brooks & Dunn, R.I.P.
Country duo Brooks & Dunn have decided to call it quits after a 20-year career, squeezing out a greatest-hits collection and a farewell tour before riding off into the sunset. “After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it’s time call it a day,” 54-year-old Kix Brooks and 56-year-old Ronnie Dunn said in a statement. The duo collected a slew of country music awards over the course of their career, as well as two Grammy Awards; according to Nielsen SoundScan, their album sales in the U.S. have topped the 22 million mark. Thanks to Dan Gibson for recommending that I post their 1992 single “Neon Moon,” which came from their first album and was their third hit to reach No. 1 on the country charts, along with the announcement of their split. Wrigley Pops Chris Brown’s Bubble
The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company—a.k.a. the people responsible for bringing you Big Red, Juicy Fruit, and other gummy confections—has announced that it’s severed its relationship with pop star Chris Brown, whose top-five song “Forever” was the result of a Doublemint-flavored partnership between the two parties. Wrigley had suspended the ads featuring Brown and the song (one example is above) after Brown was accused of assaulting Rihanna in February; his guilty plea in June was apparently enough for the company to say that it had terminated the relationship outright. Although doesn’t five weeks seem like an awfully long reaction time? Uh oh, I feel my conspiracy hat being placed upon my head! MORE »
