Robbie Williams has canceled his appearance at next week’s MTV Europe Music Awards, citing “scheduling conflicts.” I wonder if he’s going to do a last-minute resequence of his new album, which leaked earlier this week and which suffers from the I Am… Sasha Fierce problem of front-loading the thing with too many ballads? I know, I know, a lot to ask for, but a girl can dream. [BBC] MORE »

Surprise, That Michael Jackson Tribute Show Isn’t Happening (Yet)
The Jermaine Jackson-headed tribute concert to Michael Jackson that was scheduled to take place in Vienna later this month and include marquee names like Mary J. Blige and Natalie Cole has been postponed until 2010 and movied to London, according to a statement from Jermaine on the concert’s official site. Part of the reason is time: “Instead of eight weeks we now have eight months to prepare and some of the stars who would not have been able to participate in the Vienna concert, but expressed their wish to participate in this event, will be able to perform live on stage in London in June 2010.” But another reason for the switch? According to Jermaine himself, it was the meanies in the Austrian media! MORE »

Here’s Hoping The Postponement Of “Megan Wants A Millionaire” Doesn’t Torpedo Fefe Dobson’s Comeback
It was probably inevitable that the slime trail of reality-show contestants would include at least one alleged murderer, but it’s a little surprising that the outing of said person of interest took place while he was getting regular airtime. And yet that’s what happened to Ryan Alexander Jenkins, a cast member on Vh1’s gold-digging expedition Megan Wants A Millionaire who’s currently being sought for questioning in the grisly murder of his wife, Jasmine Fiore. After the allegations came out, Megan was quickly postponed indefinitely by Vh1; meanwhile, Alexander has apparently fled to his home country of Canada. But what of Fefe Dobson, the Canadian pop singer whose comeback attempt was hitched, in part, to the show’s star? MORE »

Depeche Mode Adds Another “CANCELLED” To Its Tour Itinerary
Depeche Mode’s show in San Diego tonight is the latest to be canceled because of problems forcing lead singer Dave Gahan to continue the complete vocal rest that torpedoed Wednesday’s show in San Francisco. “We are incredibly disappointed to not be able to perform for our fans tonight in San Diego,” Gahan said in a statement. “We hope to be back soon to play for all our fans in the area.” The band’s next show, scheduled for Sunday at the Hollywood Bowl, is still on as of this writing. Aerosmith’s Stone Has Been Chipped
The nasty spill suffered by Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler at a show in Sturgis, S.D., gave the wiry frontman a broken shoulder and a few new stitches in his head. The band canceled all of its tour dates in Canada earlier this week, but apparently Tyler’s injuries will need more time to heal; the rest of its injury-plagued summer tour has been completely canceled. Statements from Tyler’s bandmates after the jump. MORE »

Depeche Mode has canceled tonight’s show at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Calif., because vocalist Dave Gahan has reportedly been ordered to embark on 48 hours of complete vocal rest by a physician. This is the second time that shows on the band’s current world tour have been canceled for medical reasons; this spring, a low-grade tumor was discovered on Gahan’s bladder and the band canceled a series of shows in Europe. As of now, the band’s next show—scheduled for Friday in San Diego—is still on. [SFGate] MORE »

Michael Jackson’s London Shows: The Refunds Begin Wednesday
AEG Live, which promoted the now-canceled 50-show string of Michael Jackson shows scheduled for London’s O2 Arena this summer, has announced that ticket holders will be able to get full refunds–including service charges–beginning July 1 at the residency’s official site. Those fans who want to own the physical tickets, which were designed by the late Jackson, will also be able to receive them “in lieu of the full refunds,” according to Billboard. AEG Live’s Randy Phillips issued a statement within a statement: MORE »

The Jonas Brothers’ official YouTube channel was yanked from the service briefly over the weekend, and the rumor is that it was yanked because Sony BMG does not take kindly to people repurposing its copyrights for flights of fancy like the “Joe Jonas Dances To ‘Single Ladies’” video. Everything is apparently back now, although I’m guessing this kerfuffle will kill the possibility of Nick donning beaded-curtain shades and taking on the clip for “Diva.” [Music Is The Heart Of Our Soul] MORE »

Swine Flu Bans The Snowman
A Young Jeezy show at the University of Delaware has been canceled in light of 10 suspected cases of swine flu being discovered on campus. Meanwhile, in Mexico, most public gatherings have been canceled for the foreseeable future, including a Four Tet show in Mexico City that was scheduled for tonight and a Camp Freddy show in Cancun on May 18–although in the case of the latter I wonder if there was also any sort of mercy rule that came into play.
