April 8th, 2011 // 33 Comments

Our mouths are agape. Our minds are flustered. Our fists are thrust toward the sky. How did Season 10′s frontrunner Pia Toscano get voted off of American Idol?! And did we just lose our last chance of a female winning this competition? More »

‘American Idol’: Hayley Reinhart And The Top 9 Rock Out

April 7th, 2011 // 4 Comments

This week, American Idol‘s remaining nine contestants picked tunes from the “Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll” exhibit at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. (Unsurprisingly, none of these eligible songs were performed.) Black Eyed Pea will.i.am, back for his third week on the show this season, acted as Jimmy Iovine’s wingman as the guest mentor, which makes perfect sense. When anyone thinks of rock-and-roll, they think of the man who never met a synthesized beat he didn’t immediately sample, right?

Take the jump to find out which underdog slayed, and which frontrunners took a risk that didn’t exactly pay off. More »

5 Songs The Top 9 Will Definitely Not Be Singing Tonight On ‘American Idol’

April 6th, 2011 // 2 Comments

Tonight, the Top 9 will be performing songs from the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, more specifically from the “Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll” exhibit. The contestants had about 500 songs to choose from, and we all know they’re going to stick with the regular American Idol-tested, mother-approved numbers by the likes of Johnny Cash and U2. Instead of rifling through that list to predict which contestants will sing which songs, we’ve narrowed down the Top 5 songs that don’t have a shot in hell of being performed tonight:

With the one-time judges’ save used up on Casey, it was business as usual this week on American Idol—with not one, but two sad singers given the toss on last night’s results show. ‘American Idol’: Naima & Thia Voted Off, Fantasia Performs

April 1st, 2011 // 5 Comments

Just in case you didn’t get the memo from Ryan Seacrest, last night’s elimination round of American Idol was to have two contestants voted off. And the episode didn’t disappoint—well, unless you were fans of either Naima Adedapo or Thia Megia. One surprise, however, came when the usual group performance was ditched in favor of the Top 11 contestants splitting into duet partners, trios and quartets. Read on!

‘American Idol’: Elton John Night’s Alright For James Durbin

March 31st, 2011 // 3 Comments

Now, don’t get us wrong—from “Rocket Man” and “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” to “Blue Eyes” and “Circle Of Life,” we love us some Captain Fantastic. But Elton John night on American Idol didn’t exactly give any “wow” moments with regards to the Top 11, the way Motown night did last week. Maybe there were simply too many switched-up arrangements of Sir Elt’s classics? At least Ryan Seacrest’s new hair style (bangs pushed down!) kept us captivated.

‘American Idol’ Power List: Jacob Lusk Soars, Pia Is Still In The Lead

March 25th, 2011 // 5 Comments

This week’s American Idol Power List covers the Top 11 once again, since by now we know that Casey Abrams was granted the one-time save by the judges on last night’s results show after he received the lowest votes. Last week we noted that Casey needed to curb the screaming, and, well, he only kind of half-listened. (Tsk, tsk!) Head below to see where we ranked the contestants in the third week of the Idol Power List!

‘American Idol’: Jennifer Hudson, Stevie Wonder And Sugarland Perform

March 25th, 2011 // 6 Comments

Thia Megea, Stefano Langone and Casey Abrams ended up in the bottom three on last night’s American Idol results show after viewers cast their votes on who should shape the Top 10. And while we weren’t surprised at Langone’s inclusion at the low end of the scale, it was Casey who proved to be the biggest shock—particularly when he was announced to be the one with the lowest votes.

‘American Idol’: Jacob Lusk Amazes On Motown Night

March 24th, 2011 // 5 Comments

During what could have been just another routine bout of Motown Night on American Idol, the volume of talent possessed by Season 10′s contestants was brought to the spotlight. There are 11 of them left, and this week will decide who places in the Top 10 performers to take the Idol tour on the road this summer. And we have a feeling Jacob Lusk doesn’t have anything to worry about.

‘American Idol’ Power List: Pia Leads The Pack

March 18th, 2011 // 6 Comments

As much as we thought Karen Rodriguez improved in the last week (read our thoughts of the Top 12 performances here), we weren’t exactly shocked when she was voted off American Idol last night. There’s eleven contestants left in the competition, and at this point, it’s looking more and more like a Pia-James finale. Don’t believe us? Check out our Idol Power List below.
