Phil Collins: “I Can’t Drum”

Phil Collins has told the UK paper The Mirror that his drumming stance has ruined his chance of ever picking up the sticks again—basically his back become aligned in such a way that his vertebrae have slowly started crushing his spinal cord, and now sitting in drumming stance causes him great pain. But there sure was a weird bit of locution in the seemingly sympathetic Mirror piece that broke his plight! MORE »

It’s No Surprise That The Summer 2009 Disabled List Has Grown Again Today

weezydaughtryTwo more additions to the pile of injuries plaguing this summer’s working musicians. First, Lil Wayne has canceled a few Canadian stops on his summer tour because of an unnamed illness; his jaunt with Young Jeezy, Soulja Boy, Pleasure P, and Jeremih will resume with Thursday’s date at the Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Denver. Meanwhile, American Idol grunger Chris Daughtry has announced via Twitter that he’s been diagnosed with viral laryngitis, and has been forced to postpone tonight’s show in Tempe, Ariz. Aerosmith: Almost As Prone To Injury As The 2009 New York Mets

aerosmithLast night’s Aerosmith show in biker hotbed Sturgis, S.D., was cut short after frontman Steven Tyler fell off stage during a performance of “Love In An Elevator.” The “going dowwwwn” jokes will, one hopes, be kept to a minimum, since a) they’re hacky and b) Tyler had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital after being attended to a doctor on-site. A rundown of what happened from a few eyewitnesses: MORE »

Drake Heads Back To The Disabled List

drakeThe up-and-coming MC Drake, a.k.a. Degrassi alum Aubrey Graham, was playing hurt on the “America’s Most Wanted” tour, nursing a torn anterior cruciate ligament (a.k.a. ACL—it’s one of the main ligaments of the knee) that was preventing him from doing a full set. “No one will probably even know I’m injured,” he told MTV News the day before the tour’s kickoff last week, adding that he’d be wearing a brace on stage during his abbreviated set. Well, as anyone who’s ever had a fantasy team knows, the ACL is a very delicate part of the body, and it does not take kindly to being aggravated. And during the tour’s stop in Camden, N.J., on Friday, Drake kicked off the performance of his hit “Best I Ever Had” with a spin that reaggravated the injury and sent him to the floor. Of course, there’s video! MORE »
