The Sugababes Shuffle: Maybe They Should Just Rename Themselves Altogether?

sugababesblahFollowing rumors that Amelle Berrabah had left the group surfacing on Friday, UK pop trio the Sugababes have released a statement about just where they’re headed, and, well, it’s sort of what was reported last week, but with one kind of big unexpected twist: “Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah will continue as the Sugababes and will be joined by new member [and Eurovision veteran] Jade Ewen…. Keisha Buchanan will continue to record for Island Records as a solo artist.” Buchanan was the last remnant of the girl group’s original lineup, which formed in 1998. Kind of weird, then, that they’re going to keep the Sugababes branding intact, don’t you think? MORE »

Vh1 Divas: I Do Not Think It Means What Vh1 Wants It To Mean

vh1-divas-poster-kelly-clarkson-7827361-428-618Tomorrow night, Vh1 continues this month’s run of MTV Networks self-cross-promotional bonanzas with the Paula Abdul-hosted special Vh1 Divas, in which current female inhabitants of the pop charts get tagged with the d-word whether it’s apt or not while singing in front of an adoring audience. This year’s lineup offers up a sort of diminishing diva returns; you’ve got Kelly Clarkson (hell yes), Adele (eh, ok), Jennifer Hudson (sure), Leona Lewis (Simon Cowell thinks so but the Idolator jury’s still out), Jordin Sparks (uh), and Miley Cyrus (oh hell no). And now all those singers have been assigned duet partners for the evening, in an effort to pass some torches and I guess reel in the demographic of people who prefer “Achy Breaky Heart” to “Party In The U.S.A.” Buddy up after the jump! VH1’s Best Cruise Ever Is So Not The Best Cruise Ever: Or, How Would You Like To Be Trapped At Sea With Shinedown?

ouchVH1 put its talking-head yakfest Best Week Ever on very long hiatus a few weeks ago, but they haven’t completely retired the “Best Ever” brand just yet. The show’s attendant blog is still alive, and today came the news that the channel would be sponsoring its own Best Cruise Ever, which promises to have “non-stop concerts from your favorite artists, VH1-themed activities and contests, plus the chance to hang with your favorite bands” for those people on board. (There will probably also be at least one chance to play Texas Hold ‘Em.) So who are these awesome bands scheduled to set sail to Grand Cayman next April? MORE »

The Michael Jackson Memorial Lineup: It’ll Be Here

Usher, Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, John Mayer, and Jennifer Hudson have all been announced as guests at tomorrow’s Michael Jackson memorial service, which will take place at the Staples Center at 10 a.m. PT. The Los Angeles Times‘ Todd Martens is also reporting “on good authority” that more boldfaced names will be added to the lineup for the hot ticket. Play “which Michael Jackson classic will this star cover” with the full lineup after the jump, and remember that matching Mariah Carey with “I’ll Be There” is sort of a gimme. MORE »
