Mike Posner And Black Bear Cover Rick Ross And Drake’s “Stay Schemin”

January 16th, 2012 // Leave a Comment

Thinking of giving up scheming? Well, Mike Posner has some advice for you — don’t. The “Looks Like Sex” singer is back with an acoustic cover of Rick Ross’ “Stay Schemin,” which originally featured Drake. Naturally, the new version is a lot softer-edged than Ricky Rozay and Drizzy’s Rich Forever cut, thanks to a choice word being replaced with “haters” (hint: it starts with “N”) and plenty of ear-pleasing crooning by both Posner and Black Bear. It’s the most sensitive, soulful delivery of “F*ck it, I don’t wanna go to court” you’re likely to hear in this lifetime. Listen below. More »

January 16th, 2012 // Leave a Comment

Believe it or not, Kanye West didn’t emerge from the womb with millions of fans and a bevy of superstars aching to collaborate with him. He was actually once just a person like you and us, although probably always a better rapper. And now we have the footage to prove it — a rare video from his teenage years back in Chicago circa 1996, long before he reached our ears with 2004′s The College Dropout. In the clip, the man behind Donda raps with his buddy phenom, sounding remarkably similar to the Yeezy World Peace we know and love today. Check it out below. More »

WZRD did indeed conjure up some new music on the stage at the Heatwave Festival in Middleton, Australia. Head below to watch live performances of the ominous guitar jam “Brake”, which Cudi released in November, and the never-before-heard “Teleport 2 Me”.

January 13th, 2012 // 3 Comments

Kelly Clarkson did a practice run of her upcoming Grammy night duet with Jason Aldean by joining Blake Shelton on stage in Toledo last night. The two belted out “Don’t You Wanna Stay”, which Clarkson and Dean are up for Best Country Duo/Group Performance with at the Grammys. Kelly will be doing more joining up with Blake once The Voice (premiering February 5) rolls around again, as she’s been tapped to help mentor his team members at some point during Season 2. January 13th, 2012 // Leave a Comment

Last night, the up and coming Joy Williams and John Paul White of the band The Civil Wars were performing to a sold-out crowd at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Halfway through their concert, Williams jokingly introduces a guest performer who “hasn’t had much time on stage” and “is really new at writing songs.” And out came Taylor Swift for the first live performance of “Safe and Sound”, their collaboration for The Hunger Games soundtrack. Bruno Mars Covers Michael Jackson, LMFAO And More At New Year’s Gig

January 6th, 2012 // Leave a Comment

Bruno Mars has more than enough hit singles to keep a live audience entertained for a full evening, but during his New Year’s Eve gig at The Bank nightclub at the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas, Bruno kept the party going with an endless stream of covers. Our favorite came when the Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter channeled his inner Girl Talk by busting out a mash-up that included Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”, The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army”, LMFAO’s #1 single “Sexy And I Know It” and Right Said Fred’s “I’m Too Sexy”. Feist Covers “November Rain” In The Wackiest Way Possible

January 3rd, 2012 // Leave a Comment

Don’t let Feist’s sometimes moody music fool you into thinking she doesn’t have a goofy side. While performing in Mexico City, not only did she bust out a cover of Guns N Roses’ epic “November Rain”, and not only did she bring along a Slash impersonator for the crazy guitar solo, but the Canadian songstress concluded the performance by whacking a giant pinata that descended from the ceiling. This is pretty much how every concert should end. Watch the insanity below.

Willow Smith Covers Kid Cudi

January 3rd, 2012 // 1 Comment

When we spoke to Willow Smith last month, she told us her favorite album to listen to in 2011 was Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, citing that “it’s different, and it has a lot of feeling.” So it makes sense that the “Fireball” singer would be inspired to cover Cudi’s low-key song from that album, “All Along”, all while playing the piano, even if it’s pretty heavy material for a typically plucky 11-year-old. Florence + The Machine Performs At Harrods While Wearing An Amazing Cape

December 28th, 2011 // Leave a Comment

Florence + The Machine helped ring in the big Winter sale at London’s popular department store Harrods this past Tuesday, and we wouldn’t be surprised if shoppers were itching to buy Welch’s Karl Lagerfeld-designed wool cape for their very own. (We know we are! It’s not even chilly here in Los Angeles and we’d be happy to sweat all day long in a cape as glorious as Flo’s.) Besides looking spectacular, the singer performed two Ceremonials tracks, “What The Water Gave Me” and “Shake It Out.” Watch below. More »
