GIF GALLERY: Idol Judges On Infinite Loop

3:10 PM on Wed Jan 13 2010 by Erika Brooks Adickman
It's no secret that the audition episodes of the American Idol season are all about the misfits, oddballs, freaks and geeks we suffer through/gawk at while the judges pan for Idol gold. While these episodes lack the drama of the real competition, they often represent the best chance for us to catch one of those precious "spit takes" from the judges. We snagged our favorite moments from Boston's auditions, as seen in last night's kickoff of American Idol Season 9, proudly presented below. Just think, you're seeing this from the contestants' perspectives. In other words, these are the images that will play over and over in their memories for all of eternity — which is why they're GIFs! ‘Rolling Stone’ Readers Really, Really Like Green Day

4:54 PM on Tue Dec 8 2009 by Becky Bain

Apparently most music critics do not share the same opinions as music fans (big surprise, huh?). While Kanye West, Justin Timberlake and Usher are topping list after list chronicling the last ten years, Rolling Stone conducted a Reader’s Poll of the Best of the Decade, and the message is loud and clear: their readers like Green Day. A lot. More »

Madonna/Lady Gaga Dance-Off In Real Life Likely More Entertaining Than NBC Version

3:11 PM on Tue Dec 8 2009 by Becky Bain

Madonna’s British accent returned just in time for in her interview with Ben Shepard of GMTV, the UK-based morning TV show, where she discusses a dance-off she had a few weeks back with herself-in-training Lady Gaga at a New York club. Showdown! Hip flexors extended at high noon! We can only presume the match-up proved more entertaining than their previous awkwardly timed, cringe-worthy duel for attention on late night TV. More »

50 Cent Talks Smack On Jay-Z, Sweet Nothings On Susan Boyle

12:21 PM on Tue Dec 8 2009 by Becky Bain

In today’s episode of “Fiddy Checks Google Trends”: protagonist Curtis Jackson hypes his Before I Self Destruct by randomly name-checking someone with a track record of recent and bona fide commercial success in music—Susan Boyle. (This approach is also known as The Bieber Method.) While he’s at it, he’s also trashing Jay-Z, which is odd given that perhaps the one thing 50 needs to figure out more than anything else is how to age gracefully. Is he just bored not having a nemesis now that Kanye’s taking a break? More »

Justin Bieber Covers Eminem While in Detroit

5:22 PM on Mon Dec 7 2009 by Becky Bain

Justin Bieber certainly knows how to get people (other than screaming fan girls) to pay attention to him—by associating himself with bigger names in the music biz. Usher, check. John Mayer, check. Cobra Starship, check. Eminem… Why the hell not? While performing at a concert thrown by Detroit’s Channel 955 this past weekend, the 15-year old Renaissance kid paid homage to Mr. Mathers (and blatantly pandered to Em’s hometown crowd) by performing the opening verse of the smash 8 Mile anthem “Lose Yourself.” Gosh, you can really feel him channeling the anger.

Bieber Tweeted “Detroit was nuts…had to pay respect to that guy from 8 mile. EMINEM is a beast.” Check out Justin’s handling of the Grammy- and Oscar-winning song after the jump: More »

Susan Boyle Gets Invited To Perform At The White House

4:57 PM on Mon Dec 7 2009 by Becky Bain

Seems like yesterday that the Jonas Brothers were burnin’ up the hearts of White House pop fans. But even Disney’s tween dreamboats may have to yield to the shock and awe of Susan Boyle’s global assault. As if notching biggest sales week for any album this year wasn’t enough to command respect, ever-reliable UK news outlet The Daily Express reports that Susan Boyle has been asked to drop by 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. for a “small, intimate gathering” during the First Lady’s 46th birthday party in January. Daniel Powter Tops End-Of-The-Decade List With One Hit While Usher Tops Another With Seven

1:27 PM on Mon Dec 7 2009 by Becky Bain

Billboard’s stats nerds have come with their own take on the high and low points of the decade: the music industry trade mag named Daniel Powter, singer of American Idol fail theme “Bad Day,” as the biggest One-Hit Wonder of the last ten years, while on the other end of the spectrum, Usher topped Billboard’s hit list as the artist with the most number ones of the Noughties. The hit-maker (and TV home-builder) took seven songs to the top spot on the Billboard’s Hot 100 in the last decade, and he didn’t even need the full ten years to do it: his bouncy classic “U Remind Me” ranked No. 1 in 2001, and beat-recycling smash “Love in This Club” peaked at the top in 2008. That’s definitely a reason for Usher to celebrate something other than his divorce. And hey, Daniel Powter’s name is being mentioned again for the first time in three years, so that dude’s probably breaking out the champagne right about now.

The Wait Is Ova For Rihanna/Disney Porn Fetishists

4:30 PM on Fri Dec 4 2009 by Becky Bain

We don’t pick who gets the leaks, folks. Please thank TMZ for providing these pics of Rihanna on the set of her new music video “Hard” (currently shooting in Los Angeles). RiRi previously described the vid as “couture military,” but we had no idea that included biting Deadmau5’s look.
