Eminem And Lil Wayne Will Perform Together On ‘Saturday Night Live’

November 18th, 2010 // 1 Comment

Making his first television appearance since being released from jail, Lil Wayne will join Eminem on the December 18 episode of Saturday Night Live to perform their track “No Love“. Given the serious nature of the song, we doubt the Night At The Roxbury guys will be making a cameo during the “What Is Love”-sampling number, but if we’re lucky, we’ll get a digital short starring Em and Weezy rocking some Tron: Legacy gear with host Jeff Bridges. (Other upcoming SNL musical guests include Diddy-Dirty Money on December 4 and Paul McCartney on December 11.) [Rolling Stone]

Patrick Stump’s Solo Album ‘Soul Punk’ To Drop This February

November 17th, 2010 // Leave a Comment

Finally! Former Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump has announced that his debut album as a solo artist will be called Soul Punk, two words we think fit Stump’s sound perfectly (and look pretty damn good on a t-shirt). The album will drop this February, and a tune called “Spotlight” will be the first song you’ll hear from the LP. If you can read music, preview the track by looking over the sheet music posted by Stump on his website. [MTV]

Rihanna Is “The Only Girl (In The World)” On Italy’s ‘X Factor’

November 9th, 2010 // Leave a Comment

How many bright red wigs can one person own? Rihanna rocks a longer version of her fire engine red hairdo while performing her Loud hit, “Only Girl (In The World)” for Italy’s The X Factor. Sadly, there were no food fights like the one she kicked off during her X Factor gig in the UK, but the picture perfect pop star (who also belted out the song at the EMAs over the weekend) delivered a decent enough performance to keep the song stuck in our heads for another week straight. Thanks, RiRi. Clip below!

Michael Jackson’s Mother And Children Open Up To Oprah

November 8th, 2010 // Leave a Comment

We’re still dubious that Michael Jackson is the one singing on the newly surfaced track “Breaking News“, but we do know one thing for sure — Oprah’s interview with the King of Pop’s mother and children was heartbreaking to watch. “I don’t think I will ever be healed,” Katherine told the talk show host about trying to move on from her son’s death. “It will get better, but some days it’s like it just happened… It hurts. It really hurts.” Highlights from the interview below.

‘Glee’ Mashes Up En Vogue And Bon Jovi In Tuesday’s “Never Been Kissed”

November 8th, 2010 // Leave a Comment

We were wowed by Glee‘s all-male a cappella take on Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” — but could the rest of the numbers featured on tomorrow’s episode, “Never Been Kissed”, live up to that refreshing performance? The girls of New Directions tackle classic all-male rock bands, the boys take on larger-than-life divas from the past, and Puck and Artie go reggae — listen to tomorrow’s tunes below.

Jennifer Lopez Poses With Her Twins In The Name Of Fashion

October 22nd, 2010 // Leave a Comment

Jennifer Lopez might be signing away her life to reality TV (at least for 2011), but the camera-loving star is still doing what she does best. No, not making music — posing. And Jenny flashes a diva-perfected look with her adorable two-year old twins, Max and Emme, in an ad campaign for Gucci’s children’s line. One more simultaneously heart-melting and fierce pic after the jump.

Christina Aguilera Dominates The ‘Burlesque’ Soundtrack

October 8th, 2010 // 12 Comments

Christina Aguilera sings eight of the twelve songs on the Burlesque film soundtrack, which drops on November 16 (one week before the movie opens on November 24). From what we’ve heard — and painfully seen — so far, these songs, aided with Christina’s flawless vocals, will be the best thing to come out of this movie musical project. Unless, of course, a designer line of drag queen couture inspired by the film’s glitzy costumes pops up. Put us down for a size 12 pump in advance, and peruse the movie musical’s track list below!

Taylor Swift Reveals Her ‘Speak Now’ Track List

September 22nd, 2010 // 1 Comment

Taylor Swift has said that each song on her third studio album Speak Now is a confession to somebody in her life, and Vulture takes a pretty hilarious shot at guessing who each song on her just-revealed track list is directed it. (It goes without saying that we all know that the tune she premiered at the VMAs, “Innocent”, is squarely pointed right at the man still on the hunt for his antique fish tank.) See if you can guess which record is more than likely about Joe Jonas by checking out the 14-song track list below.

What’s In A Rapper’s Name? Find Out In This In-Depth Chart

August 24th, 2010 // Leave a Comment

Check out this intricately detailed taxonomy of 266 rap and hip-hop artist names, organized according to semantics. What we learn from this chart is that there are way too many rappers who have “Lil” as the first part of their stage name, and only one who uses a punctuation mark in their moniker (that would be ?uestlove). We shudder to think how long this took the artist to draft. Pick up the graphic in poster or t-shirt form over at Pop Chart Lab.
