Though it appears musical Renaissance man Patrick Stump is taking a break from his own tunes (at least according to his recent, totally depressing blog post), he’s working on a number of other projects. “I’ve been moonlighting as a professional songwriter/producer for hire and I’ve even been doing a bit of acting here and there,” he wrote on his blog in February, and it looks like that “bit of acting” is a guest spot on Fox’s House. In the episode, Stump puts on adorably geeky black frame glasses as a possible love interest for Charlyne Yi’s character, Dr. Park. And —what a coincidence! — he’s in a band.  More »

Nicki Minaj has racked up fans around the world, both young (see: Sophia Grace Brownlee) and old. But make no mistake: her act isn’t necessarily one for kiddies.  “I don’t want to offend moms or their children, like when they come pay their money to see a show,” the “Starships” singer/rapstress told Nightline‘s Juju Chang. “But I didn’t come in the game to be an artist that appealed to kids, either.” She also didn’t get into the biz to simply be compared to Lady Gaga, which happens quite often. So does that bother her? “Offend me? No. Irks me? Yeah,” Minaj told Chang. “First of all, I’m a rapper. First of all, I’m from southside Jamaica, Queens. What are the similarities?”

Florence + The Machine‘s MTV Unplugged concert, which was taped in December, aired last night. As announced, a live album of the gig will be made available digitally at midnight tonight. During her set, Florence Welch performed several of her own tracks, as well as two covers. One was Otis Redding’s “Try A Little Tenderness”, which Kanye West — who happened to be sitting front and center during the Unplugged gig — and Jay-Z sampled for their 2011 hit “Otis”. Said Flo: “I think you have already pipped me to the post on this song, Kanye. I think, yeah, hopefully it will go as well.” Watch her Unplugged below.

Despite leaving behind her short-lived career as a judge on American Idol two years ago, Ellen DeGeneres still manages to find the time to goof on rival talent competition The Voice from time to time. Case in point: today’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show featured a new segment called “What’s On Cee Lo’s Lap?”, wherein two audience members had to jot down what they thought might be perched upon “Forget You” crooner Cee Lo Green each time he swiveled his big red chair around. Alas, given their attempts at the guessing game, it doesn’t look like this pair of ladies will be taking up jobs as psychics anytime soon.

There is little doubt that hordes of One Direction fans stayed up past their bedtimes (or even, ahem, up all night) to see the UK quintet’s big Saturday Night Live performance, and it was likely well worth sacrificing their beauty sleep. Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis elevated their standard prep-school wardrobe to a sort of post-prom style for their performance of their smash “What Makes You Beautiful”, but looked anything but stiff as they bounded to every corner of the stage. It was clearly a big moment — you’d expect this one to earn a chapter in Dare To Dream, right? Catch their live rendition of “One Thing” — and the boys’ skit with host Sofia Vergara — below. More »

As if he doesn’t have enough on his plate already with the American Idol hosting gig, news coverage on E!, his production company and syndicated KIIS-FM radio show, Ryan Seacrest has now signed up to be part of the team at NBC. While being interviewed on Today, Seacrest, who says he tries to be a “good conduit to pop culture,” told host Matt Lauer, “I’ve worked with the E! network for years, and NBC Universal and E! are the same family. And so the plan is for me to join the NBC family and continue to have a role at the E! network.” Watch the hosts playfully joke (we think) about Ryan taking Matt’s job on Today below.
