Lil Wayne’s No Ceilings has made its way online in full. And it features him rapping over “I Gotta Feeling”! Because that song will never, ever die. Otherwise, I’m still letting it sink in, but I do like the Romper Room moment during one interlude where he says that he made the mix for “you. You you you.” (Later in the interlude, he takes some time out to light a blunt, lighter effects and everything.) [2dopeboyz] MORE »

Mariah Carey Says “Boo”
Never let it be said that Mariah Carey isn’t afraid to make the grand gestures in order to assert her chart supremacy: She’s already released a Jermaine Dupri-produced remix of her third single from the sales disappointment Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, “H.A.T.E. U,” that completely reconfigures the track around a bite of the Ghost Town DJs’ 1996 classic “My Boo.” It also features verses by Gucci Mane, Big Boi, and OJ Da Juiceman. Can you say “Hail Mary pass”? I guess since biting from the ’80s didn’t work out all that well, she decided to move her nostalgia up by a few years, and ride the coattails of a song that’s pretty much unassailable. Oh Mariah. Miley Cyrus And Biggie Smalls Walk Into A Party…
The inevitable mashup between Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus’ relentlessly sunny “Party In The USA” and the Notorious B.I.G.’s 1993 track “Party And Bullshit”—called, of course, “Party And Bullshit In The USA,” and thrown together by a self-proclaimed pro skier who calls himself “Andrew Hathaway”—probably won’t make the spawn of Billy Ray come crawling back to Twitter. But swapping out her verses for those by the deceased hip-hop giant did make me appreciate the brighter-than-just-whitened-teeth musical bed put together by Dr. Luke a little more than I did on first listen, which is something, right? Alphabeat And Ramones Say The Word (It’s “Blitzkrieg”)
Alphabeat’s “Fascination” mashed up with Ramones’ “Blitzkrieg Bop.” Not earth-shattering or anything, but definitely a nice little kick in the pants for a Thursday morning. [YouTube via Alphabeat's Twitter] MORE »

Kelly Clarkson Thinks You Oughta Know About That Kings Of Leon Song That’s All Over The Place
The latest entrant in the “covers of Kings Of Leon’s ‘Use Somebody’” sweepstakes is none other than inaugural American Idol Kelly Clarkson, who mashed the track up with Alanis Morrissette’s “That I Would Be Good” at the Mohegan Sun arena in Uncasville, Conn., the other night. I like this reworking because it shows off her outstanding instrument, and I especially love that she picked the two covers just because she really, really liked them. You know, I’m starting to think that if I ever had the chance to follow one musician out on tour, it could maybe be Kelly! Although that would get kind of expensive. [YouTube via Vicki] MORE »

If It’s Tuesday, It Must Be Time For T-Pain To Appear On Other Pop Stars’ Songs
R. Kelly has released the remix of his sex-as-chart-topper single “Number One,” which features T-Pain and Keyshia Cole, and lest you think that T-Pain was totally giving up on digitally manipulating his voice for the purpose of topping the charts, the new track is an AutoTune-drenched affair that makes me think the whole lot of them should try and see what Britney Spears is up to. L’Trimm Gets The Black Eyed Peas In Its Car
File under inevitable remixes that actually sound OK: the Black Eyed Peas’ neverending No. 1 “Boom Boom Pow” blended with L’Trimm’s stone classic “Cars With The Boom,” because, well, it’s probably pretty obvious. The remix comes courtesy of King Most, whose site, I should admit, I clicked on because of a post about the Wale/Lady GaGa collaboration “Chillin’” that put forth the important question, “Can Someone Remix Lady Gaga’s Face As Well?” (I am a bad person. I know.) Embed of the track after the jump. MORE »

Chris Cornell Is Going To Prove His Worth To You In 63 Tracks
Continuing his efforts to prove to fans that the club and the rock show can, indeed, coexist, Chris Cornell has released a mixtape in conjunction with DJ Skee based on his new solo album Scream. In addition to the Fray’s American Idol-enshrined cover of “Heartless” and a version of “Outshined” credited to Audioslave, the 63 tracks include a selection from that Jay-Z/Linkin Park album, a mashup of the “Lollipops” wielded by Lil Wayne and Framing Hanley, “Kids” so as to fulfill the required-in-2009 MGMT quotient, songs from a few bands that played Bamboozle, and a remix of Nirvana’s “Love Buzz” cover. There is also something called “Trent Reznor Speaks,” which I am going to guess is some sort of meta-Twitter dis. (The zipped version is 219 megabytes, so it’s taking a while to leech from the Internet.) Full track listing after the jump. MORE »

MJ: “Man, Justice remixing Lenny Kravitz is like … two decades of vapidity coming together and forming one gigantic black hole.” CM: “No way is Justice as bankrupt as Kravitz–vapid, yes, but a different kind of vapid.” MJ: “Well, Lenny has had a 15-year head start! Give Justice more time and more blow and I’m sure they’ll be there.” CM: “Blow–is there nothing it can’t do?” [LennyKravitz.com; HT Stereogum] MORE »
