rickrosscoverLouis Vuitton has sent XXL a nastygram over the sunglasses worn by Rick Ross on the cover of the magazine’s latest issue because the shades are knockoffs. The letter clarified three points: “The first is that the sunglasses Mr. Ross is wearing were not made by Louis Vuitton, and in fact, are counterfeit. Louis Vuitton did not grant permission to Mr. Ross or to whoever did make the sunglasses to use our trademarks. The second is that no affiliation, sponsorship or association exists between Rick Ross or XXL and Louis Vuitton. The third is that counterfeiting is illegal.” Have they really downgraded from threatening lawsuits to finger-wagging via post? And here I thought sales being up allowed them to keep their lawyers around… [XXL] MORE »

Justin Timberlake Wants You To Use That Hole In That Box For Something Else

It’s been almost two years since Justin Timberlake donned a pair of Color Me Badd pants and sang about giving his ladyfriend a Very Special Christmas Box, which I guess means that enough time has passed for “Dick In A Box” to become source material for a song about Very Important Things. Above, Timberlake (with girlfriend Jessica Biel) turns his ode to giving the best present of all into… a song about sticking your ballot into that hole in that box. Unfortunately, pretty Christmas wrapping, Andy Samberg, and the concept of “being funny through something besides extreme awkwardness on Timberlake’s part” are nowhere to be seen, so why not clear your brain out with the original, which we’ve placed after the jump. Fake Ne-Yos Apparently Running Wild In New York City

AP080904012897.jpgAt the end of last month, smooth singer Ne-Yo was allegedly scheduled to play the New York club Mansion on Aug. 31 for a show sponsored by the promotion company Party at NYC–even though they apparently hadn’t booked him, and he was actually performing at another club on the city’s noxious West Side that night. So what did the Party at NYC folks do when the audience started agitating? Well, first, they apparently coralled a “fake Ne-Yo”–who I guess was just hanging around the club–to entertain ticket holders, but that didn’t work, I guess because the impersonator didn’t have his hat tilted enough. So then, they told the crowd that the singer was “stuck” in the Gulf of Mexico. Why there and then, you might ask? The answer, after the jump. MORE »

Mariah Carey Won’t Let Something As Silly As “Charity” Get In The Way Of Having A Blinged-Out Microphone

AP080406027419.jpgDetails from last night’s taping of “Idol Gives Back,” which I didn’t make the press-list cut for and which is one of three episodes of American Idol airing this week, thus ensuring that the producers won’t pull the same “we’re not sending anyone home because that would ruin the feel-good vibe of the night” shenanigans that they engaged in last year: MORE »

I'm tuning in to see if Snoop one ups her and performs with that gaudy ass crystallized Snoop Dogg microphone he had on VH1 Storytellers.

Avril Lavigne Leaves Her Fans Out In The Cold

AP071202027430.jpgCharisma-free pop star Avril Lavigne isn’t only deficient in mugging for the camera, she is unaware of the etiquette involved in outdoor shows that are held in snowy conditions: Namely, you don’t make your fans freeze their asses off, even if they didn’t pay anything to get in. And yet that’s what she did over the weekend, when she played a show in Burnaby, B.C., that celebrated the opening of a new Best Buy. Luckily, one of the attendees has a blog, and she helpfully provided the blow-by-blow: MORE »
