Ball Out

John Legend and Rick Ross linked up for “Who Do We Think We Are?” and now the lead single off Legend’s forthcoming album Love in the Future (out June 25) has a video. And like Robin Thicke with “Blurred Lines,” this cut got an explicit version (above) and a clean version. The main difference between the two, as you probably guessed, is female toplessness, with leggy model-types traipsing around a mansion with their goods hanging out like it’s what you do when you’re a leggy model-type in a mansion.

As for the main men, Legend is decked out in a tux, but Rozay apparently didn’t get the sexy ballroom party memo and is rocking a leather jacket. If you’re at work, you can head below to see the tamer version. More »

The Ready Set’s “Give Me Your Hand (Best Song Ever) [Ghengis Cuts Remix]” Video: Idolator Premiere

The Ready Set Give Me Your Hand
Best Song Ever (Or Remix, At Least)

Your new favorite summer party jam is here, and it takes the form of The Ready Set’s “Give Me Your Hand (Ghengis Cut),” a new remix of last year’s already-catchy song that’s still totally catchy and thoroughly dance-worthy.

In the video for the new tune, premiering exclusively on Idolator, the song soundtracks what’s clearly the party of the year: There’s a pool, a mattress-staircase slide, plenty of red Solo cups and girls in bikinis — in other words, this is how all summer house parties should be. Jordan Witzigreuter leads the crowd as they jam to his song and snags himself an Ashley Benson-lookalike to dance with. Well done, Jordan. More »

Sean Kingston Pop Associated
Get Associated

Ah, our man Sean Kingston — he’s had more than a few high-profile friendships and collaborations, from teaming up with Justin Bieber to touring with Kelly Clarkson early in his career to sharing a track with Nicki Minaj. When we sat down with Kingston to play a game of Pop Associated, he had some revealing things to say about his industry colleagues — especially what Wiz Khalifa makes him think of. (It’s not surprising, necessarily, but it is pretty funny.) More »

Becky G Hits The Streets In “Play It Again” Video: Watch

Becky G Play It Again
Play It Again, Becky

It’s Becky G! Following up last month’s “Becky From the Block” viral clip, the pint-sized rapstress-slash-songbird is back with a new single, “Play It Again,” and it’s yet another piece of radio candy, penned by an impressive roster of hitmakers including Dr. Luke, Max MartinCirkut and Ammo and featuring exactly the type of absurdly catchy hook you’d expect that posse to cook up.

Similar to her last video, “Play It Again” sees Becky adding some neighborhood flavor; it’s a neat trick, managing to pay tribute to her cultural heritage while still being, y’know, a commercial pop video. As for the song, her rhymes are sharp but it’s the sweet, summery feel of that chorus lands best.  More »

Lauriana Mae’s “Money Mae” Video: Idolator Premiere

Money Maker

Most pop fans were introduced to Lauriana Mae via Cee Lo Green‘s surprisingly heartfelt single “Only You” earlier this year. Her smoky vocals were a perfect counterpoint to Green’s alien-soul rasp, but now Mae is showing us a different side for her very first music video, “Money Mae,” and we’re excited to premiere it up top.

The ode to gold-digging (or, as we like to call it, “strategic courtship”) starts out with the Atlantic Records singer melding flapper fabulousness with flashy beats. Then a gloriously cacophonous chorus kicks in, all horn blasts and swagger, as Mae makes it rain. The video was directed by Kai Regan and is off Lauriana’s Love Mae EP, which is out now. More »

Make It Bounce

What do you do with a video for one of the summer’s most obvious club smashes? Take it out of the club and put it, inexplicably, in India! Yes, Iggy Azalea‘s “Bounce” video sees the Australia-born, Los Angeles-based rapstress and model adventuring through India in a vibrant Bollywood-inspired clip that’s fun, in a super-culturally-appropriative kind of way. Vanessa Hudgens & YLA Rave Hard In “$$$ex” Video: Watch

Vanessa Hudgens YLA $$$ex
Music Is Their Hot Hot $$$ex

Sensational party girl terror Vanessa Hudgens (who was easily one of the four best female actresses in Spring Breakers) has released the video for her single “$$$ex,” and it’s — well, it looks like a grainy, trippy rave show, under the influence of a lot of stimulant-based drugs and maybe some psychedelics, too. It’s not totally clear.

But! The video features and was directed by the ladies of YLA, the girl group with whom V-Hudge collaborated on the song, and they make an appearance in the video, so there’s that, too. It certainly fits the mood of the song, but it has a certain quality that makes me feel like I need to take a shower. More »

Apparently FootAction held some sort of contest for fans to submit art based on Kendrick Lamar‘s good kid, m.A.A.d city cover, and last night (April 2) held an event with Lamar performing to a small crowd in Brooklyn. This strange corporate pairing led to a wonderful musical pairing, as K-Dot brought out Emeli Sande to sing on “Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe.” Check it out up top. More »

E-V-E Plays P-O-P Associated

When we invited the lovely Eve to sit down in our L.A. studio for a chat, we were determined to get the Lip Lock-ed rapper to spill all about her upcoming album. She also joined in a round of Pop Associated, our wordplay game where we give artists the opportunity to dish on their contemporaries.

Watch as the Ruff Ryders’ First Lady gives us the real deal about Gwen Stefani, Missy Elliott, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Snoop Lion and many, many more. (Remember, with over 15 years in the business, she’s rubbed shoulders with some of music and Hollywood’s biggest names.) Plus, find out which MC Eve considers a “big sister,” and which former co-star makes the rapper think of “bubbles”.

Watch up top, and don’t forget to look for Eve’s new album on May 14. More »

Sean Kingston 7 Things You Need To Know
Brought Back 2 Life

Jamaican pop superstar Sean Kingston is back, and while I can’t reveal any details about his upcoming album Back 2 Life (I heard a few tracks, and it’s sounding quite promising), I can turn the reins over to him to let him share a little bit about the new project with you. Just a few things. Seven things, in fact!

Kingston explained that he’s been hard at work in the studio developing a newly “organic” sound, as he describes it — plus teaming up with friends like Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa — and while his mentor, industry legend J.R. Rotem, is still playing a pivotal role in the album’s production, he says his fresh vibe should satisfy old and new fans alike. (It will.) More »
