@Matt Cibula: Whole-heartedly agreed. I cringed as I clicked play, recoiling for what I thought was another cookie cutter R&B crap song churned out by another cookie cutter R&B "artist" but what I got was something actually pretty original. House DJs have been doubling up the beats for years on soul tunes, and it's a formula that's worked really, really well. I'm glad to see an out-of-the-box treatment here.

R. Kelly Holds Court in “Hairbraider” Video

The video for R. Kelly’s “Hairbraider” is out, and now we can watch women writhe while he slowly reveals the garish gold braids that have already been visible in recent photos. MORE »

One can only hope that when released from prison, Mystikal writes a song called "Hairbraider", that recounts his troubling episode, complete with a "Law and Order" sample.

"In the hip hop world, the people are represented by two separate, yet equally important groups. The scandalous hair-braiders who embezzle from their employers, and the rappers who rape them in retaliation. These are their stories."

Alicia Keys’ New Video Pays Respect To Dean Big Brother Almigh<i>teee</i>


School Daze, being Spike Lee’s second full-length film, is a little clumsy for a musical and features the worst ending in a career full of bad ones, but it has an excellent cast and plenty of memorable set pieces. So it’s no shock that Alicia Keys would interpolate it for her new video, “Teenage Love Affair,” a young girl’s valentine to a school mate: “Want you to be my first, my last, my ending and beginning.” I don’t think she included enough of the frat stuff, though.
