Screen Jams is our recurring look at the most buzzworthy new music featured in movies, TV shows, and video games—pretty much any form of entertainment you can enjoy with your eyes.
British singer and songwriter Damon Gough – aka Badly Drawn Boy – is no stranger to soundtracks. He composed the score and songs for 2002’s
About a Boy, and he's back after a three-year break (his last studio release was 2006’s
Born in the U.K.) with the soundtrack for
Is There Nothing We Could Do?, music from and inspired by the British TV movie
The Fattest Man in Britain. Does it stand up against his first foray into movie music magic? Indulge yourself in our take on the Brit singer's latest cinematic offering, below.

Lil Wayne has gotten plenty of flak for his
oft-delayed album Rebirth, but another artist who's had just as much label drama and song leaks is Cassie. Buy the time her sophomore album
Electro Love drops—that is,
if it drops—in 2010, it will have been four years since her debut.
All that said, a new song titled "Sky Diver" has now leaked. It was penned by former Underdogs member James Fauntleroy ("No Air") and produced by Chris & Teeb. (Listen below!)

If there has been any unifying idea or theme to music in the 00s, it is surely the squashing, the shriveling, the incredible shrinking of music itself. Out went the album, in came the single (and the ringtone!). As our attention spans raced toward :00, it sometimes felt like we had traded in big anthems and sweeping melodies for fragments, the hook, the bits and pieces. Maybe that’s all that we have left now that everyone controls their own playlist. But is that so bad? At this moment in pop history, it seems appropriate to look at music, and enjoy it, for the parts as well as the sum total. We’re not out to create a mashup (DJ Earworm did that well enough, thanks), but we’ve been taking a good look at the best song bits of the year.
Check out our picks for the best work of 2009 in eight key categories — are these just eight great ideas? Pieces of one imaginary masterpiece? Or a little of both? More »

No doubt about it, 2009 was a tough year.
Heroes tumbled,
legends passed, and we all had to shuffle along knowing that all
these people continue to exist. Everyone just seemed kind of mad. Heck, even the pop stars started dressing like they'd
rather be left alone than loved. All that aside, this year we still managed to have a little fun - and we thought we'd approach the last days of 2009 with a special video rewind courtesy of our crayon-wielding pals at
Pop Waffle. So let's go through the looking wax one more time and reflect on everything the year had to offer.

Remember that voucher that was supposed to be included in the
Glee, Season 1 Volume I: Road To Sectionals DVD set? The one
we mentioned yesterday, the one that
Variety reported about in late October? The trade publication initially wrote that customers would be able to apply this special coupon toward the purchase of the full season 1 DVD collection upon its release sometime in 2010. But like a cold slushie to the face comes the revelation that there is, apparently, no such voucher. We know it hurts.

Since the release of
I Dreamed A Dream over a month ago, silver-tongued song vixen Susan Boyle has held steady in her perch atop the
Billboard Top 200 Albums chart and
warded off other high profile new releases from Alicia Keys, Chris Brown, Rihanna, R. Kelly and Adam Lambert.
And this week is no different, as the Scottish singer stays at #1 for a fifth week, forcing Mary J. Blige to debut at #2 with
Stronger With Each Tear.

Who needs
the original Sugababes lineup to reform when founding member of the group Mutya Buena is turning out grade A trash like "Can You Persuade Me," a cover of Pitbull's smasheroo "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)"?
The track is by the outfit known as NightShift, who, according to their/his
official MySpace, "were able to combine the genotypes of 11 international multiplatinum UK, US and Jamaican artists to create a powerful and hypnotic combination."
And part of that combination includes Sisqo. Yes,
that Sisqo—the one with the silver hair who sang "Thong Song." Hear "Can You Persuade Me" below!

With Paula Abdul having departed American Idol earlier this year and rumblings of Simon Cowell possibly following suit this coming spring, the blockbuster Fox reality singing competition may never be the same after 2010.
Nevertheless, Idol proved to be an omnipresent television force during the first decade of the new millennium, transforming some unknowns into superstars and turning others into punchlines. Here are 32 things that would or would not have happened had American Idol never spun off from U.K. series Pop Idol and hit American airwaves in 2002. More »
