DrSpaceman commented on Surprise: Presidential Candidates May Have A Superficial View Of Their Campaign Songs' True Meanings,
at 7:15 PM on Jan 17
My favorite was when Al Gore used Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al." Ignoring the fact that the only relevance (the Al) is heavily implied to not even be the real name of the song's subject, it also featured the verse: Who'll be my role-model?Now that my role-model is Gone, gone He ducked back down the alley With some roly-poly little bat-faced girl All alone, alone, There were incidents and accidents There were hints and allegations.
This at a time when Gore was doing everything to distance himself from Clinton.

@extracrispy: I believe this entire concept sucks balls, though the fact that the latter (read: more complicated) songs are safe is perhaps the only silver lining.

I wonder if they offer different McCartney themed wedding packages: McCartney Marriage #1 and then the severely discounted McCartney Marriage #2.

I can only hope Paul McCartney tracks down that meter maid and takes her as HIS date to the Grammys.

If Herbie Hancock wins AOTR for his Joni Mitchell album, I think that she should return the favor and do a cover of "Rockit".
