Finally had a permanent job (well, "permanent" until earlier this year), had an apartment of my own, still sometimes hanging out with an ex-girlfriend but also with another woman who usually just wanted to be friends, getting away from reading science fiction a bit, going out to see local bands a lot, discovering shoegazer bands like Ride and listening to other pre-grunge alternative rock, and generally ignoring the existence of Guns 'n' Roses.
It was a great and mostly carefree time, before things with that second woman got weird and my best friend was transferred a thousand miles away and the 90s began to suck in earnest.

In Where No Man Has Gone Before, the young Kirk is described as a stack of books with legs -- Garry Mitchell threw a young blonde lab assistant at Kirk, and he nearly married her.

@Spacehamster: "I suspect that at the time (2001) Bryan Singer's rendition of BSG would've been much more popular with fans precisely because it was a continuation of the original show."
It would have been more popular with the handful of people who still cared about the original Galactica, sure.
